Minbari

The Minbari are the oldest of the races we call the younger races. They have already taken an active role in the last Shadow War a 1000 years ago. They have a relationship with the Vorlons, though not as close as might be suspect at first glance.

A 1000 years ago, Valen, a Minbari not born of Minbari appeared with a station that helped them win the war against the Shadows. Valen was nobody else than Jeffrey Sinclair, who went into the past with Babylon 4 as part of his destiny. It was he, Valen who formed the Grey Council, formed the Minbari Culture around the number 3 - 3 castes, 3 languages, 9 (3x3) Members of the Grey Council, ..., and brought 1000 years of peace to them.

In the 23nd century they engaged into a terrible war with the Humans, in which they almost eradicated the whole race. But they recognised the humans to be the race from Valen's prophecy, when they took Sinclair aboard during the decisive Battle of the Line in orbit around Earth. They surrendered at the very eve of total victory, and then later signed on to the Babylon Project, as a part of the prophecy that was made by Valen.

Because of tensions (going out from the Warrior Caste), the Grey Council was broken after 1000 years in 2260, and so the remainder of prophecy was fulfilled. Without the guidance of the Council, the Minbari Culture slowly descended into chaos, and a year after the council was broken a terrible civil war broke out. Back to the Top
