Centauri

Early in their history the Centauri had to fight for survival and dominance on their own world, against another sentient race known as the Xon. They wiped the Xon out in a long and bloody war, and thus their age of glory began.

The Centauri Republic is a monarchy, ruled by an Emperor. The Republic once spanned a large part of the galaxy, but a little over 100 years ago it began to decline. One event that sped this decline even more, was the loss of Narn, in the mid-22nd century. In the following time the Centauri had to leave many worlds, and constantly lost power.

Shortley after they established contact with Earth and gave them the Jumpgate technology in exchange for trade-agreements. Then the Republic consisted of only a dozen colonies in the mid-23rd century, and many Centauri longed for the old times.

The Narn Regime had grown to be their biggest adversary. They kept pushing the borderline and the Centuri had neither the will, nor the power to withstand their expansion.

But in 2258 this bagan to change. A coup in 2259 paved the way for a new group of Centauri to take control over the government. Through Londo's alliance with the Shadows they managed to pull the Narn into a war impossible to win. From then on they seemingly were back on their former path of glory, having defeated the Narn in 2259, and continuing to expand into foreign territory afterwards.
