Humans

The expanding Earth Alliance is centered on the third planet of the Sol system, the planet of origin of this species. After achieving space flight at the end of the second millenium, almost a century and a half would pass until the great spaceward expansion would be enabled by the firts contact with an alien species in the mid 22-nd century, the Centauri.

The Centauri, apart from claiming humans as long lost colony of their own, leased time on their jumpgates to the humans until the technology was reproducible without further help in exchange for trade agreements. At that time humanity was at the height of expansion within the solar system, and thanks to the jumpgates their already huge fleet could be used for interstellar expansion with only minimal adjustments. A period of unrivaled expansion followed, prompting the founding of a dozen new and far flung outposts, coloniies and deep space stations. Soon the Earth Alliance became able to construct its own jumpgates, and the expansion continued even at a faster pace. Earth had shifted the emphasis of its civilization into space, founding Earth Force, and unifying the home planet.

In 2230 the Earth Alliance joined forces with the non-aligned worlds to fight the ruthless and brutal race of the Dilgar who exterminated entire worlds. With the help of Earth the Dilgar were defeated, ensuring the good will of the non-aligned worlds, and humanity looked forward to a bright future.

The expansion came to a breaking halt though, when the humans encountered another alien species, the Minbari. Unfortunately the fledgling Earth Force was unable to even adequatly respond to the unleashed fury of the Minbari Warrior cast, after the first contact between humans and Minbari ended in bloodshed. In a stunning series of defeats and routs, the humans were driven back by the attacking Minbari forces, colony after colony falling to the enemy. In the end Sol system itself was invaded and the defensive perimiter pushed back almost to its point of origin, Earth. At this point the Minbari surrendedred.

Slowly Earth rebuilt and started anew to seed the stars with its offspring. In the ten years since the Earth Minari War, four ouposts and only in-system colonies were able to be rebuilt.

In 2261 human civilization was once more shaken to the core by a civil war sparked by the ever increasing powerhungriness of the central government on earth. After its conclusion, humans are now spread through several systems among indipendant colonies and planets. Incidentally, Bablyon 5 is counted as an indipendant state.
